New play ‘Wrong Un’ announced

A new one-woman play telling the story of Annie Wilde, a Lancashire born suffragette, written and composed by Boff Whalley and performed by Ella Harris, ‘Wrong Un’ will open at The Big Bookend Festival on 9 June 2013 before touring festivals in association with Unite, The Union. The show will be directed by Justin Audibert.

February 1918, and after several decades of protest and four years of bloody war Parliament is poised to grant what the suffragettes have demanded and fought for – votes for all women. After years of direct action, arrest, imprisonment and force-feeding, it seems their time has come.

Wrong ‘Un tells of the adventures of Annie Wilde, a Lancashire mill-girl galvanised by a rousing mixture of injustice, conviction, self-doubt and fear on her journey from schoolroom to prison cell and beyond in a musical drama that draws on class, privilege, hope and disappointment in wartime England.

Tickets will be on sale soon.

Learn Barry’s Little Guitar Song!

Everyone Thinks It’s A Little Guitar But It’s Not

GGFF repeated

You don’t put your lolly on the windowsill
When it’s hot.
You don’t get your bubbly without putting your ha’penny
In the slot.

People seem to know a lot of things, but …
Everyone thinks it’s just a little guitar
But it’s not.

You don’t buy shoes with laces if you can’t
Tie a knot.
You can’t buy a sixpenny bar
If a penny’s all you’ve got.

People seem to know a lot of things, but …
Everyone thinks it’s just a little guitar
But it’s not.

Solo!

You don’t keep weeing in the night without
Emptying the pot.
And you don’t have a wee without the light on
If you’re not a good shot.
People seem to know a lot of things, but …

Everyone thinks it’s just a little guitar
But it’s not.
