TOURING AUTUMN 2010
(Schedule below)
Red Ladder announces UGLY it's new commission by Emma Adams. We’re reuniting the writer, director team who brought you Forgotten Things (shortlisted for 2009 Meyer-Whitworth Award and acclaimed at the Edinburgh Fringe 2009 receiving 4 & 5 star reviews)
“The mixture of absurdity and sincerity is balanced perfectly. Heavy topics are addressed intelligently, with just the right amount of humour.” Fest ****
UGLY - a dark comic tale of survival
In a world ever more focussed upon global warming, climate change and the increased scarcity of resources Ugly is a dark comedy set in a future where food and water are dangerously scarce.
A tale of four people who may have to kill their angels and become more like their devils if they are going to survive.
Emotional, intense and visceral, this play breaks rules.
It will also break your heart.
Ugly is not pretty, a timely reminder of what we are doing to our planet.....seeing it might just change your life.
Workshop Opportunities - the production will open up the opportunity to undertake a wealth of work around our future world, to support this we have put together a workshop programme that explores Global Justice issues and explores how our world is working personally, locally and globally...
UGLY will have a cast of four and have a specially commissioned soundscape.
UGLY will be touring from 27th September 2010 to 12 November 2010 (possibly longer should demand require)
UGLY is unsuitable for under 15's / running time 70 mins
UGLY contains strong language & references of a sexual nature
