Duncan's Blog 14.6.2010

Duncan Marwick

At Red Grit it has been exciting working with committed new performers. committed being the important word for all you up-and-comings. Having a cast who want to try new things is really inspiring for me. It spurs me on to

try other new things with them. The journey that I hope the cast have gone on has given them an insight into

how some of it works. I hope the performance of Ben's brilliant play gives the audience an engaging story with

physical theatre and multi-media elements. These elements are various bits I've wanted to play with for years

given the right piece and cast to experiment, perfect for my own selfish goals... mua-ha-ha (sorry about

that). At a week and a half to go we are getting to a great place where the cast can really start playing with

their characters and the elements that we have explored over the last eight weeks. At this rate you can look

forward to a slickly performed piece with new performers who have a drive to succeed. Don't get me started on

performers who think they have a RIGHT to succeed! None of the latter are (thank god) in my cast. It's not

about fame with this Red Grit lot, they just want to play and work with a bit of rest inbetween.

Writing's not my best method of communication... hopefully the play'll do a better job for me. but I need to

just say how brilliant Jason has been for getting things done when i haven't had a chance- legend.

By the way i've got to raise a glass to our new government... long may they screw our country up even more

than it was before and let us, as a country, soon realise we need a real change of who runs things round here.

even the new labour leadership candidates are all oxbridge ponces... could we please have the old guard out

and a new guard in? Personally I'm really looking forward to paying for the mistakes of others through

taxation and standing on the moral highground while our 'worthy' rulers bugger about in the gutter of

Westminster with their tax free booze and fags in their wierd little vatican style state. So does that make

Cameron the Pope and Clegg Cardinal Richelieu? or just another pair of power made prats?

Anyway enough grumping and irony... viva le revolution... or something like that.
